Sunday Recs

Sep 12, 2010 19:58

Hello lovely ppl - we are back in business. :-) I hope everyone enjoyed the flood of awesome Big Bang stories this year as much as we did? And we also hope you’re not tired of reading fics, cause today we are returning to our Sunday rec posts.

And I figured, what better way is there than to kick this off with user recs. We are getting so many great user recs and we are still working our way through the list, so, it is time to get some of those stories out there.
A HUGE thank you to all of you who reced us their favorite stories. Today we’ve chosen five of them to be featured in our rec post. :)

Title: At Your Doorstep
Author: nutkin
Pairing:Jared/Jensen
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 7,000
Summary: Jared is unemployed and addicted to the Home Shopping Network; Jensen works for UPS.
Notes: AU. As I read the summary, I was really curious how this scenario would play out and if it would be realistic or just cheesy. And what can I say? I absolutely loved the story. I love the idea and I like the way how Jared and Jensen grew closer. This story just WORKS. *g*

Title: Backwards from Go
Author: atimi
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~6100
Summary: Jared was pretty sure true love wasn't meant to be this awkward. Sure, he knew his childhood ideals were never going to come true, given that Jensen wasn't a princess in jeopardy and Jared was no longer afraid of sprinklers, but he never expected love to require so much effort.
Notes: AU. I think it’s no secret anymore that I’m a huge fan of atimi’s writing. And this story is a another reason why. The combination of adorableness and hilarity is superb and (as always) such a joy to read. If you have a bad day, trust me, THIS is the story that will cheer you up immediately *g*

Title: Just A Coat Of Paint Underneath The Fly On The Wall
Author: vorpalblades
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 928
Summary: So there’s a new kid in town. Doesn’t mean anything changes.
Notes: Non-AU. Yeah, I know it’s very, very short… but damn, it’s such an adorable read that keeps you smiling the whole way through. So yeah, I won’t give anything else away (due to its shortness) but it’s def. a story worth reading.

Title: The Ones that Can Swallow You Whole
Author: embroiderama
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 16,340
Summary: A near-drowning has left Jared deeply afraid of water--a big problem considering he lives in a beach town. Jensen's a sailboat-builder who's survived a few things himself.
Notes: AU. The hurt/comfort angle of this story and the way Jared and Jensen kind of need each other to “fix” what’s wrong in their lives truly drew me in. It has a great pace, great characterization and the progress of their relationship feels natural and real.

Title: The Self Importance of Being Jensen
Author: vicious-trade
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 15,600
Summary: In the summer hiatus before season five of Supernatural, Jensen has a lot on his plate. It's hotter than hell outside. There's an extremely impatient girlfriend waiting for him in LA. Jared's under the weather and leaving a trail of life-sucking germs throughout the house. Plus, not to mention, the all-encompassing inner battle to 'do the right thing'. Whatever the hell that is.
Notes: Non-AU. First of all, the author has an awesome feeling for the characters and captures them perfectly. It was a touching and realistic scenario and you feel like this could happen for real. Also, I loved the writing style and how the whole storyline was mapped out and then pieced together. Great work!
