I can't wait to serve my mission! I leave in 9 days for the Provo, Utah MTC. I will learn Chinese in just 9 weeks. It will be an awesome experience.
My mailing address at the MTC will be:
Elder Jeremy James Thurber

Or after the first 9 weeks when I'll actually be in Taiwan:
Elder Jeremy James Thurber
Taiwan Taipei Mission
Floor 4, No. 24, Lane 183
Chin Hua Street
Taipei 106

I don't expect mail from many people, but just in case you were interested and want to get a postcard back from Taiwan or something, there is the address so I can write you back. Don't forget to put the return address on the letter so I will know what your address is.
I have a farewell/open house this Saturday. We have tons of refreshments! It should be very fun.
Life is great. I find that real joy comes in helping others be happy. Wouldn't it be an awesome world if everyone were addicted to service? That should be the in thing to do. Everyone should help others all the time.
The Old Testament is very interesting. I especially like the poetry in Job, Psalms, and Proverbs. Try it out sometime!
I recently gave a talk on "Teaching by the spirit". I felt unqualified to teach that important lesson, but it helped me learn a lot of things I will need to know before teaching the gospel in Mandarin the next two years.
My family is awesome. Benjamin is so awesome, When I came home from BYU, he asked my "did you learn how to build an airplane yet". He was upset when I told him I hadn't. He said "remember to do that next time you go to college!---and don't forget the wings!". I told him I would try my best to learn how to build an airplane for him.
One of my cakes says "Elder Jeremy Thurber, World's Humblest Missionary" on it. My Mom was quite upset when she figured out what my Dad and I had ordered. She will have to live with it though. I remember Ashley and Kate's shirts at BYU "I'm more humble than you!" And of course there is my awesome 8 pg paper on Humility that I wrote in the fall.----Sorry, I'm getting carried away, I just think it's funny.
My grandparents are in Moscow, Russia now! They are awesome examples to everyone.
If you want to know more, write to the above addresses so you'll help me feel popular at the MTC.
