A bone to pick with bras

Jan 11, 2010 17:25

I'll begin this with a partial list of rants about bras that Stephanie Pearl-McPhee started. Only partial because I think most women have about thirty personal rants about the garment. (Feel free to add to the list in the comments.)

Rant 1: Why aren't womens bodies good enough without modification or alteration?  [Note: Rant 1 leads directly to Rant ( Read more... )

rants, kvetching

I need some new clothes myself. How about this, Miss J00 - let's do an online bra-and-unmentionables shopping day together. Perhaps pairing it with massages and post-bliss coffee at Irvings...?

I'm totally game. As I mentioned to ragnvaeig above, the unmentionables shop in town is awesome. They have a "bra club," meaning that once you purchase 8 bras, you get one free! Yay free stuff.

W00t! I'm on-board!

Quick funny story about town...

On the bus ride home from work tonight, Guy A sat down next to me, and started chatting with his acquaintance seated ahead of him. He mentioned "going to State College to see his in-laws for the holidays", at which point I interrupted to ask if he was talking about PA, explaining I'm a native. He laughed over it and we reminisced about our favorite things to do up there. Guy B, another stranger seated across the aisle, then piped up, Oh hai, I'm from State College too!

Nobody ever reminisces about College Park, MD. EVER. I'm just sayin', it's nicer up here.

Man, I remember that time I took a tour of College Park, and half the place was under construction and there were no students around. Good times!

I remember my joy upon LEAVING College Park, like every other place in Maryland. Maryland, the New Jersey of the mid Atlantic :)

Wouldn't NJ be part of the mid-Atlantic as well? I realize that some northern parts of it are essentially part of NYC, but the rest... I mean, it's not the South, and it's not New England, either.

Much like ancient China, NJ can be divided into three kingdoms: New York, Philadelphia, and The Shore. Only the last of these is truly in the mid-atlantic.

but UNLIKE ancient China, NO ONE wants to read about the Romances of New Jersey :)
