My sister's 17th birthday is on the 11th. I bought 2 henks of
Claudia Hand Painted Yarns from the yarn store, in the "Twilight" colorway (I don't know if it's a reference to the awful books or the time of day, but since she likes the books I figured it was a safe bet) cast on for
these socks.
That was a week ago. I've had to rip them back four times. I do not want to let this pattern defeat me, but frankly I am this ->||<- close to saying "fuck it" and knitting a plain jane pair socks, maybe with a couple cables thrown in. Argh.
To prove to myself that I can, in fact, still knit without sucking, I made a baby jacket.
I used worsted-weight yarn, so it's actually toddler-sized. When I chose the colors, it didn't occur to me that I was going to knit an Irish jacket; I was just trying to choose gender-neutral colors. So now I have to wait until I meet an Irish baby. Or give it to
midnightranter's friend Corri. I haven't attached buttons yet because I'm still torn between the pewter sea turtles and frogs at the yarn shop.
I'm also working on some cotton kitchen towels for the etsy shop, and a few more hats.
For now, I'm going to attempt to conqure the birthday socks.
