I now know what death smells like. That smell is liver cooking. *shudder* The things I do for my pets.
(Read that liver is good for rats, so I bought some to cook and keep in the freezer and fridge for feeding a couple of days a week.)
Just... AUGH THE SMELL.
Nana claims that when my mother was a tot she would beg for chicken livers. My mother is now (and has been for nearly 30 years) almost-vegan, and always retorts with a shrill "Mom!" when Nana mentions the chicken livers. Oh, Mom.
I don't understand why some people enjoy organ meats. Yes, this comes from a woman who delighted in scrapple for breakfast and liverwurst sammiches for lunch when she was a kid. Liver liver? Ugh, no. Tongue? Eww.... I've got one of those in my mouth RIGHT now and it doesn't feel very tasty and ewwwwww. Tripe? What the hell is tripe, anyway? Heart sounds very ventricle-y, and I am highly distrustful of sweetbreads, given their very benign and misleading name.
And yet someday I want to try chicken feet.
I am so silly.
