1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I love love LOVE Noro yarns. My LYS only carries Kuryon and Silk Garden, though, so I'm not familiar with their other yarns. I've never worked with mohair, but I've always wanted to. Ditto silk, sari silk and bamboo. Call me a snob, but I only use acryllic under extreme duress.
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? Um... in one of my craft drawers. *shame*
3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? Knitting since age 5, so I'd call myself advanced.
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Amazon and Things I Love.
5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) I tend to prefer natural scents-- fresh lavendar, sandalwood and the like. The more subtle, the better.
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Do I ever. Good ol' chocolate is a favorite, and I also love Swedish Fish (red) and Jelly Belly.
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? I spin, and dabble in dyeing. Trying to teach myself tablet weaving and naal binding.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) It's easier to tell you what I DON'T listen to: Modern Country, and 90% of rap. My playlist has Ani DiFranco, The Indigo Girls, Tori Amos, Type O Negative, VNV Nation, Rammstein, Everclear, Johnny Cash and Billy Joel, just to name a few.
9. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand? I'm a gray-and-black lady when it comes to what I usually gravitate towards when I buy clothes. I do have a fondness for green and purple, though. I shy away from pastels and pinks.
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? Married without children. I have two cats (WITH their claws, thankyouverymuch) and a rat.
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? Yes to all but ponchos--I don't think they look good on me. Also, I tend to prefer gloves to mittens.
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? This honestly depends on my mood. Lately, it's been bags.
13. What are you knitting right now? Unisex gloves from "One Skein"
14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? I do :-)
15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? I prefer straight, but am not averse to using circs when they are needed. Bamboo is my preference, but honestly, as long as the needles are functional, what they're made of isn't that important.
16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? I do not, sadly.
17. How did you learn to knit? My Nana taught me.
18. How old is your oldest UFO? 10 months-ish. Maybe a year.
19. What is your favorite holiday? Halloween. (if you are Pagan, please know that I mean no disrespect.)
20. Is there anything that you collect? Books, Russian things, dreidels, glass slippers.
21. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? I really REALLY want to get my mitts on Stitch n Bitch Nation. I don't subscribe to any knitting mags at present, as Knitty and MagKnits are enough for me. Usually.
22. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? I need to work up the gonads to try fair isle.
23. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? I have made one pair of socks, and will certainly do that again. Um.. I wear a US size 8 1/2 to 9...
