My boyfriend's been having similar issues. As I'm playing on his account until I can get a pc of my own, I've avoided guilds and people as a whole? Even when/if I get a pc, I probably won't get a subscription, just because I think ultimately, mmos aren't my thing. I enjoy the story arcs, but there's a lot of grinding necessary to be a level high enough to continue the main story. I get tweaked and convinced that my toon isn't geared properly/specced right and I'm just a twit who doesn't know how to mmo properly, which goes back to my boyfriend's insistence that I use my tax return on a computer so I can group with him until I get comfortable enough to group with strangers

Honestly, I think MMO's aren't my thing either. I feel the same way - I worry that my gear isn't good enough to join a group; I picked the wrong skill tree or don't use what I have the right way - as far as groups go, I just have NO IDEA what the hell I'm doing, although by now I really should know, which just means I'm bad at it... Yay Ebon Hawk! Everyone from the old kotorfanmedia told me that was the server to be on. Mydia, my chiss sniper is level 33 and currently getting her butt handed to her. Partly a gear issue, I think, and partly because I'm insisting on using Vector because I find Kaliyo's personality annoying. Silfee's only level 12, and will probably get murdered longterm due to the slashed exp that the free to play accounts get.
I've been sending Kosiah love notes via the mail system and having fun with that and Pris has offered lots of times to group and help out. I think she stays more on the Republic side of things, though. What surprised me is that I think the part I enjoy the most is the ship battles. I'll add your names :)
You know, I thought Mia was doing Mydia, but the last few notes... the voice was TOO Mydia, I was like, omg.
I was starting to suspect it was you, but I didn't know you were still playing. Am pretty psyched. Also, Mia may be confused now about a note I sent to Faene. Hah.
I'm up for grouping whenever. Heathery, my maurader just finished tatooine. Lashy is 33 merc (played with Pris's.) Mekk, I believe Pluto knows... etc. Looking forward to seeing you both in game. (although right now I have to go to work...) I have 4 trade skills maxed also, can make armor and mods, if you guys need.
Got a month's subscription with a Christmas gift card. It's due to expire sometime next month, not sure when Jordan activated it. I fully expect him to subscribe when it does, because he seems to be pretty into it. It'd be a shame if I couldn't harass you via mail anymore.
Mia just resubbed, which is why I thought it was her. Or I thought it could be Jessica... who still plays too. That is hilarious. And yeah, you need to keep harrassing Mekk.
Re: MMOs, Izzy, I think the thing you'll run into is there are a ton of people who think they know it all. MMO genre breeds this like nobody's business. You have to learn to ignore, or, as I do occasionally, go postal in pvp chat. Let me know if I can help, full list of toons (long.)
Ha, this is great! Seems serendipitous that we all have toons fairly close to the same level - last night I started Alderaan with my sniper, thank God. I can't remember where my inquisitor is, but I have a level 4 warrior I know I could get up in levels pretty quickly to complement an inquisitor
