Platypus Cabin, Isabel's Alcove, Late evening

May 25, 2007 19:10

It was late when Isabel finally came in from the campfire and she was proud of herself for staying out in the dark as long as she did. As far as Friday's went, today had been a success. Flight had been fun. She enjoyed spending time with Steve Peter and she'd gotten her letter mailedStill a bit too keyed up to sleep, she cleaned up then curled ( Read more... )

Isabel dove for her phone before it could disturb any of her cabinmates, answering before she looked at caller ID. "Hello?"

"Sooooo? How did the date go? You didn't reply to my e-mail yet. Did he bail?"

Parker always expects people to recognize her voice. 'Hi' is a waste of time, in her opinion.

"It was not a date. We just went bowling," Isabel laughed, recognizing Parker's voice. "And we had fun. Technically I suppose yesterday could count as a date. Since I did use those words. But it was more in the sense of we'll meet at this place and time then anything else."

"Ooooo. So is that two sort-of dates in a week?" Parker teased, walking down the street. The sounds of Moscow waking up, and tourists at Gorky Park, were probably audible through the phone. "And I miss you! When can you visit me?"

"Two sort-of dates, a trip to the clinic, and a night spent holed up in the dorms," she said, hoping Parker wouldn't freak too badly. "I miss you to. But I don't know, it might be hard to road trip over the ocean, you know?"

"...clinic?"

Parker's voice turned ominous. "Clinic why?"

"Because the island decided that the only thing it was missing was a knife-wielding psycho in the woods," Isabel said dryly. "I ran into him on my way back from visiting Jarod at Caritas Wednesday night."

"Hang on."

Parker pulled the phone away from her ear, and screamed in the middle of Gorky Park. "AAAAAAAGGGHHHH!"

After a second getting her breath back, she said, "Four days. I'm gone four days, and there's a knife-wielding psycho? I was counting on weeks! Are you okay? Did they catch the psycho? What's going on?!"

She was grateful Parker had pulled the phone away, because the scream still came through loud and clear.

"I'm okay. I needed some stitches in my arm but otherwise I'm fine," Isabel promised her. "They haven't caught him yet. The sheriff's looking for him."

"Oh, like that's reassuring, half the troopers left with Tex," Parker protested stalking down the street and ignoring a few stares. "Just stitches? No concussion or internal injuries or trauma? Really?" She paused. "Steve-Peter took you to the clinic? Hmmmm."

"Just stitches and some cuts and bruises. You know me," she said, rolling her eyes at the phone. "I'm tough. And don't get too excited. I ran into him when I got back into town. He was nice enough to take me and to wait while the nurse stitched me up."

"Encouraging, though," Parker said, stopping at a sidewalk vendor, and pointing to the darkest coffee, then grabbing a muffin. "Keeps his head in a crisis, and you had fun with him. And again I say, hmmm." She grinned, and paid for her drink and snack, then turned back toward the main boulevard. "So, aside from the psycho, and bowling, how are things going? You and Cedric hanging out?"

"The library is utterly trashed. I working there on Tuesday's now," Isabel told her. "And yes, it's kind of hard not to when you live eight feet from each other. We've been handwavily watching movies and grabbing the occasional coffee."

"Good," Parker said decidedly. "Glad to hear it. The library thing sucks, though. That place is such a pain in the ass to clean up." She took a sip of her coffee and stopped at the corner of Red Square, trying to decide where she wanted to go. "So, did you get my e-mail, or should I tell you everything that's in that?"

"Give me a second and I'll see." She reached over and flipped on the laptop, quickly scanning over her inbox and opening the email. "Don't start smoking. I'll have to to thwap you."
