Room 406, late Saturday morning

Dec 02, 2006 12:39

Isabel still can't believe that she slept through the Teal Deer performance last night. But she'd stretched out on her bed to rest for a minute and the next thing she knew it was 2:00 in the morning.

For the moment she was straightening up her room in preparation for the trip to Stuff for Sale for a tree.

The door is open.

Parker went by Isabel's room after lunch. "Hey, have you seen Jack anywhere? I need to give him a piece of my mind."

"I have not," Isabel replied, as she shoved what she still thought of as Xander's desk into the corner. "I was supposed to meet up with him at Caritas last night but I sort of slept through the evening."

Instead of reassuring her, this made Parker's irritation abate and worry deepen. "The Radio said he was out walking with some girl-- a lot of people were last night, for some reason-- and he was supposed to roadie for us because Nadia's shoulder is busted. And he wouldn't just leave you hanging, especially."

"I heard that to," she nodded. "Maybe he got involved with a damsel in distress? He has his thingies, but that never stopped him from flirting. But you're right, he would, should, have called."

"Gah. If he's helping out some wench just for the fun of it and didn't call, I'm calling rights to head the line for whapping him. Even if Sam and Cedric have preference, usually." Parker shook her head, and added, "And? A girl talked to Broots last night. The world is ending."

[back in a few hours!]

"I won't stand in your way," Isabel laughed. "I wonder who all the girls were though? Has the island been invaded by a sorority or something?"

"God, that's all we need." Jarod and a sorority girl. Grrrr. "In which case? You can help me explain the hierarchy of needs to them. They don't need to be talking to *our* guys."

"Yeah, When vapid blondes attack," Isabel grumbled. "But seriously, yes, look, because damn, they are pretty. But don't touch, or talk to our guys."

"Exactly," Parker said emphatically. "There's enough competition already here, thanks." She shook her head. "You up for going into town later? Maybe we can find Jack. Or Broots to torment." Or someone else, although that couldn't end well.

"And Jarod maybe? Didn't radio say that he met up with a girl?" she asked. "I'd hate to see him fall victim to a satanic sorority."

Parker imagined that for a minute, and for just a second, a look of glee crossed her face. "Serve him-- no, no. No. That would be wrong. Especially--" She scowled. "Right. No sacrifices. So, yeah. We go into town and find Jack. And Broots. And whoever."

"Yes! That would be very, very wrong," Isabel laughed. "So before we go off to the rescue, how was Thanksgiving?"

"I had fun at Ben's, and the food was excellent when I went out to dinner with Sydney." Parker paused. "And, I got a few things done, which I might need help with, later. We'll see."

"Sounds mysterious," she said, turning when she heard someone at the door.
