She was even happier when Annie woke up and and started to bat at the bit of ( Read more... )

Greg finally pried himself away from his labwork and made his way up to Isabel's room. He tentatively tapped on her door.

Greg poked his head in. "Hey, swee - kitty!"

"Annie," Isabel smiled. "I met her this morning and somehow she wound up coming home with me. Come on over and say hello."

Greg let himself in, carefully shutting the door behind him, and went over to them. "Hi Annie."

Annie was a wee bit focused on the string. Isabel on the other hand was more then happy to see Greg. She gave him a quick kiss and handed him the string. "Here, she likes this."

Greg bit his lip and held up the string, dangling it.

Annie batted away, almost flinging herself after it. "She's so cute! Where did she come from?" Greg tore his eyes away from the kitty, and asked, "More plagues?"

"The pet store actually," Isabel explained. "I went with Jack, Parker and Sam to get a fish for Cedric. They were having an adoption expo. She was cute and she purred like a little motor when I held her." She shrugged. "You know me, I'm a sucker for cuteness."

"She's so wee!" Greg said happily. "Why Annie?"

"She just seemed like an Annie to me. She wasn't an orphan that I know of, but she was so tiny and I was afraid she'd be left alone" she said, reaching out to scratch Annie's ears. "I figure I'll ask Zero to talk to her and make sure she likes it. Or if she'd like something different."

"Awww, do you think she's very chatty?" Greg asked.

"She was meowing a lot when we were at lunch. But that might have just been because she wanted more of Sam's chicken," Isabel laughed. "I brought her into the coffee shop hidden under my coat because I didn't want to leave her alone in the car."

"Awww. Didn't they get any pets?" Greg asked, petting Annie.

"Jack bought some really weird fish/salamander thing for Cedric and Parker got Esme a ton of toys. Sam actually showed willpower and walked out without getting anything," she said. "I think she was amused when I decided to get Annie."

"Fish/salamander?" Greg asked, staring.

"Officially I think it's called and axolotl. But it's also called a Mexican Walking Fish," Isabel explained, wrinkling her nose. "It has these weird gill things. It lives underwater like a fish but it sort of looks like a salamader. Annie is much cuter."
