I'm laying, shattered, on the couch with a smiling baby and a silly guinea pig either side of me. We're all watching The Joy Of Painting, although I think Sam is a bit less interested than Angelica and I.
Yesterday was Steve's birthday and I took him to Thorpe Park for the day. We both had a fantastic time, despite the wholly malfunctioning table football game (in which we had 3 balls on the table at the same time at one point), the lack of lockers, the miserably small portions of chips and the drink we boutght which was made up of 99% ice and 1% coke. There was much fun to be had, including the Rumba Rapids being somewhat wetter than I remember last year, some stupid idiots talking about how 'Ribena' is a crap name for a drink, me being pathetically weak at trying to twist the teacup round (I wasn't strong enough to turn the bloody wheel!!) and the annoying Colossus music getting stuck in my head. (Argh, shouldn't have mentioned that - it's come back now!)
We also went on the little train, a journey on which we apparently had to 'count the bears' (this was not one of the highlights of the day, stupid bloody giant, blindingly-obvious bears! Where's the challenge in THAT?) and on the 'back-by-popular-demand' Flying Fish ride. Now, who demanded it back I don't know. For one thing, with a name like 'Flying Fish' we had assumed it would be a water ride. Was it a water ride? Was it bollocks! We finally located the water.... one tiny pond under the ride. There were supposed to be two ponds but one had dried out! It also was a bit slow and didn't exactly last as long as we were expecting either. Hmm...
But the day was fantastic and hilarious in so many ways. The only thing is that now I am knackered and trying to recouperate a bit! Thankfully Sam and Angelica are both being good so hopefully that shouldn't be too difficult for once :)
steve,
big days out
