Help!!
Today I have been driven mad trying to work out what an old children's programme was called. The problem is, I was very young at the time - too young to remember the title or any character names or, in fact, anything useful. I'll tell you what I do remember and then if anyone thinks they recall it, please give me a boot up the backside and tell me what it is!
It must have been shown in the early to mid 80s, but may well have been made and shown before that. I think it was a British-made drama. I can't recall what channel it was on, though I'm leaning toward BBC.
It was a sort of supernatural, ghostly, horror series which involved something to do with electricity. There was a family who were living in either a farm or some kind of country house, and their generator kept breaking down. Much of the series seemed to be spent fixing it.
Things happened in the house with appliances, such as radios. I think they played a haunting tune or something, even when they were not plugged in. Other things happened, vague poltergeist activity.
The one lingering memory I have was from the end of an episode (my mind keeps telling me it was the third episode but that's probably a load of crap!) in which the girl of the family found the TV on with a distorted, ghostly face on it and someone wailing horribly. I think she tried switching it off and still the wailing carried on.
This is as much as I can recall - as you can see there's not much actually searchable there. Believe me, searches on Google for "children's TV + 80s + generator + ghost" do not come up with anything useful!
I would be forever grateful to anyone who can tell me more about this show. I swear I will be dreaming about the damn thing tonight.
