Summary:
Off I Go Part 4
It makes Kat wonder sometimes if she and Meg were just not meant to be twins. She's missing so much, she’s such a fucking coward.
It hurts her sometimes to think that Meg is just fine, that she's going to be fine. Later when this is over, Kat knows she'll be crushed, that she'll linger for as long as she can. People love her, she thinks if people knew her, the real her, that they'd run in the opposite direction.
She doesn't want Lily to run, so she keeps her at a distance, just far enough away so she doesn't see the cracks.
The bravo is exhausting and soon she'll tire of running, but for now the thought of stopping and giving in makes something tighten uncomfortably in her chest. Meg thinks it would be so easy for them to be a couple and she never goes out of her way to say it, but Kat can see it lingering in her eyes. The blame.
Meg thinks Kat's hurting Lily by running away from her rather than towards her, but Meg doesn't see that the only thing she's running away from, is herself.
Kat jumps as Lily sits down beside her, successfully pulling her from her thoughts, knee to knee pressing Kat into the side of the couch as she leans towards her.
"Was told to tell you we're going to be off set tomorrow." Lily's eyes don't move away from the script she's reading (rather) intently. Kat isn't fooled by the coldness of her voice, the heat of Lily's bare skin pressed into hers tells a story on its own.
"Where are we going then?" Kat hopes she sounds cool and the rougher tones of her voice don't give way, because they both know where they’re going, making out in a set room or in a forest, it doesn't really matter to Kat. Lily could make her hot as fuck in front of her own mother, without even trying.
Lily gives her such a pointed (Naomi) look, that Kat actually feels herself blush.
"Lake, yeah?" She has to turn away as her voice cracks.
"We, we haven't done our lines in a few days, I'd like to-" Kat abruptly cuts Lily off.
"I'm busy tonight; we'll have to rush through, tomorrow." Her voice trails off when Lily shoots her a venomous look as she pushes herself roughly to her feet, jarring Kat with her movements.
"Well that's a right fucking surprise, isn't it? So, no we’re not going to rush through, because unlike you, I give a fuck about the way my performance comes across. Sloppy is the way you like to do things Kat." She pauses and rubs the bridge of her nose. "I'm not going to have us looking like fucking amateurs on screen, honestly we fucking owe people a good performance." Lily stands, shockingly tall over her and she’s never talked to Kat that way before.
She’s up on her feet before she can stop herself, her face and temper both uncomfortably hot.
"You've never had a problem pretending you were in love with me Lily, I'm sure your performance will be beautiful," She pauses and steps closer to Lily before turning her head, unable to look at the hurt clouding her eyes, even more unable to stop herself from hurting her a little more. "Honest."
She walks away, doesn't look back. Kaya catches up beside her and they leave together. She doesn't think anything of it, certainly doesn't think of the blonde staring after her, hands shaking by her sides.
Kaya and her get fantastically trashed. Quite impressive given it’s only seven O'clock. They talk about everything, but really they talk about nothing.
Kat doesn't even think about asking why Kaya is here with her, she thinks if she doesn't want to be asked, that Kaya most likely doesn't either.
"So, you and Lily?" Kaya is abrupt, so very awkward, so very unlike Effy.
"Me and Lily what?" Her face seems to shutter and then Kaya, Kaya looks exactly like Effy.
Staring at her until Kat thinks she's seen something she doesn't want her to. Her eyes so fucking knowing it makes Kat regret not coming on her own, finding someone who won’t ask any questions.
"Have you apologized for being a cunt?"
"Since, since when do you give a fucking shit about peoples’ personal lives." Kat also regrets, adding another thing to a shit list that's getting very long, that she wasn't keeping track of Kaya’s drinks.
She looks unnaturally stable for someone who was keeping up shot for shot with Kat at the beginning.
"Always avoiding questions Kathyrn, tut tut, buck up love, stop making everything more complicated than it has to be..."
"Shut the fuck up." Kat whispers darkly across the table.
"Yes, good answer, you can't hurt me like your-"
"I'm protecting her!" Kat explodes and Kaya's eyes jerk from Kat's hand, palm open on the table to Kat's face, flushed and red. She covers Kat's hands softly with her own and leans forwards.
"No, your not, so go apologize, kiss and make up." Kaya smiles softly at her and Kat can only nod. Once, twice before standing fully and making her way towards the exit.
She swears she sees a head of hair as red as her own, diva glasses fully in place, despite the dark lighting in the bar.
Fucking Meg.
She'll never admit it, but she doesn't know how long she stands outside the blonde's door. Mustering up the courage to knock.
Her first knock is pitifully soft, she's sure Lily hasn't even heard it.
Her second knock is even worse; it resembles more of a slam.
Before she has the chance to knock a third time, to get it right, for once; the door is opened and Lily is standing there, looking sleepy and angry, only more angry when she gets a good look at who is at her door and what state she's in.
Kat opens her mouth to say something, but air just filters out and only as Lily goes to close the door, classic eye roll in full effect, Kat manages to find her way through and slips through the crack.
"I need to talk to you." Kat’s voice is strong and she feels something akin to pride well in her lungs.
Until Lily laughs and stands with her arm, pointedly still on the door’s frame.
"That’s a real laugh coming from you?" Her eyes are dark and sad despite her cocky demeanor.
"I know, but I want to talk ab-"
"Well, I don't want to talk at all, so." She waves her hand out the door.
"Lily." She pleads.
"You've been drinking." Lily looks interested now, despite her anger.
"Just with Kaya."
"Are you fucking her too?" Bitterness seeps into her voice and Kat feels frustration seep into her answer.
"No. Fuck Lily, would you let me fucking talk to you."
Kat expects more of a fight, but rather then kicking her out; Lily shuts the door and throws the lock in place. Kat stands in the middle of the room as Lily begins to pace. It's only now that Kat notices Lily is in her pajamas: bare legs and a large shirt. Her eyes drop as the smallest hint of her ass peeks through the shorts.
"Well fucking talk then."
Kat clears her dry throat and wonders what in the world she's going to say.
"I have no idea what I'm doing, with anything really. I'm shit at planning, shit at relationships, shit at fucking friendships. I'm a crap sister. Even worse twin." Talking yourself into a ditch Prescott. "I don't ever commit to anything and this is all your fucking fault, looking at me like that."
Lily's mouth tightens around the edges at Kat’s speech.
"Like I'm capable of giving you what you want. Do you even know me?" Lily's eyes flash and she sneers unattractively.
"Yes Kat, I'm well fucking aware you’re a whore." Kat’s eyes drop to the floor, there’s only so much kicking she can take.
"I'm not-"
"I was wondering how much of the cast you've gone through, because you have no problem fucking with people who are in relationships." Kat has never outright said anything half as cruel as the words tumbling out of Lily's mouth.
"You've got a boyfriend in case you’d forgotten."
"Never stopped you before."
"Well I've never loved anyone I've fucked before so."
They both stand frighteningly still. Lily’s hands frozen mid gesture. Kat feels horribly afraid.
Kat’s tongue darts out involuntarily to wet her lips.
"What?" Lily chokes.
"I, I didn't mean. Shit, shit, of fucking shit. Like friends lo-" Kat tries desperately to back peddle.
And then Lily surprises Kat right back, taking two large strides and cupping Kat’s face in her hands roughly.
"Liar." She whispers.
And than she shatters Kat.
Kissing her the way she looks at her, like she's something beautiful, something a little broken.
"Right." Kat moans
She realized somewhere between Lily's hand palming her breast and her moan of "Finally." That they should be figuring out what they’re going to do.
She pulls back as much as Lily will allow, which isn't enough for her brain to function with thoughts other than Lily. Her teeth biting into her lips, her hands pulling Kat’s shirt over her head as she tugs Kat towards the bed.
"Wait." She pants, pathetically, it sounds a lot like 'more' to her own ears.
"No." The blonde bites out.
She just drags her further back into her body as she slants her mouth over Kat's, forcing her moan into the blonde's mouth.
The red head feels wholly useless and she can do nothing but let Lily's body cover hers on the bed, Lily's heat seeping into her skin, her hands useless and quivering by her sides.
Lily has never kissed her like this, painfully slow and deep, her tongue mapping her mouth, like she's thought of this before and she's doing everything she's ever wanted.
Kat’s never been so wet in her entire life, she thinks she'll come before Lily even touches her. The blonde pulls away and brushes her fingers over Kat's face with a reverent expression spreading over her features.
Lily’s hand brings hers to the side of her face, Kat can feel the soft skin under the pads of her fingertips, Lily presses her lips in the palm of Kat's hand and a questioning look spreads over her features.
"You’re shaking." Lily murmurs.
"Look what you've done to me Loveless." She tries to joke softly.
"Kat." Lily pushes her hand to the skin of her stomach and squeezes it briefly before releasing it.
“Touch me.”
