Ah, I love my new job. I knew it was going to be interesting, but it is far exceeding my expectations. Firstly I work in Social Sciences which is short for "the weird people live here". The office is great, just gobs of fun. The professors are either really stuck up and don't talk to me or are funny and joke around with me. One of the adjuncts sits in the chair across from "my" desk and cracks jokes/tells stories between his classes. It's great.
But I have to tell you about "Trish" before I go to class.
"Trish" is 6'4" and wears a REALLY bad wig. Like chin length black hair and it's this coarse "cheap" wig--it sticks out. It looks like an Egyptian wig on a bad hair day. Very bad. Put this with crystal blue eyes and it makes for a bizarre combination. Trish has a pink bracelet and pink toenails and a pink backpack and the body/face of a 50 year old man. He/she/it came in and first I noticed the wig... weird. Then as it walked past I caught the pink. Pink toes with those hiker sandals... bad taste even for a female.
Well, the funny professor and my boss happened to see it too and everybody was just trying not to laugh. It went down the hall to talk to somebody else and we held a whispered discussion along the lines of "what was that?" Then it left and they raced down the hall to find out if it had a male or female name. (I could tell it was born man, but this was hotly contested until I pointed out that "it has man legs" which sent everyone into gales of laughter.) It's name is "Trish". Scary, but we got such a gag out of it. That just made my week.
