Ooooh, I'm going to get -so- shot for posting this. I don't agree with -everything- here, but there's some interesting commentary, and some valid points.
Oh, he's definitely on to something. That's really similar to the reasons why I strongly distance myself from the modern concepts of "feminism" and despite tending towards some masculine personality traits, am reluctant to call myself a "tomboy".
Basically, both of those terms represent a person trying to be something they aren't. It's one thing if your personality is just naturally the sort inclined towards things more typically associated with guys, it's another if you're deliberately trying to mimic them every chance you get.
I tend to avoid wearing skirts and such, but I'm also choosy about pants for the same reason- I prefer to have plenty of pockets for putting things in. But unlike some people I know I'm not against wearing a dress, and am quite well aware that I can look good in one. It's just a matter of what happens to be comfortable to wear. Similarly with cosplay I go for a combination often of an outfit I like, as well as a character that is actually interesting enough to cosplay. Much of the time, this ends up being a male character, but I also will cosplay female characters on those occasions where one meets my criteria of outfit and personality and generally interests me enough...
But yeah, people are more interesting and attractive in general when they're just themselves.
