Myth Masquerade

Jun 21, 2014 15:07

I attended Myth Masquerade with my friends Caitlin, and and Lisa (Who was performing with her bellydance group) Which was held in the amazing Downtown Los Angeles theater. Both me and Caitlin recycled costume bits we made for labyrinth of Jareth last year. I made a headdress, and painted some horns to play off the opposite color scheme of her Fawn Costume; loosely making us spring and Fall.

The pictures above are from Blinkit Photography, the ones bellow are ones I took, or ones I found online random places.

Mask and Horns:

Both were hand painted using a mixture of spray paint (Primer, clear satin finisher) and acrylic metallic paints. The horns are African Springbok. The mask blank is from Raven King Relics and can be purchased at his etsy store. I had originally planned to wear/carry the mask on a stick; but at the 11th hour the cheap ebay stick broke ff, so I basted the mask to my bag.
I have posted a mini-tutorial here: http://anachronisminaction.tumblr.com/post/88449856364/1-i-purchased-a-mask-blank-from-raven-king

Headdress:

Dyes and paints were used to transform the faux flowers into a state of decay (after over dying in black and tan) and further embellished with glitter and crystals. The chains and antique gold hardware is a mixture of purchased and repainted necklaces from the LA garment district and Forever 21. I have posted a mini-tutorial on the headdress here: http://anachronisminaction.tumblr.com/post/88334682259/thank-you-everyone-who-has-liked-and-rebloged-the

Awkward mirror selfies were the best pictures I managed to get of the back while worn sadly:

And its tricky to see in the photos, but I dyed my hair dark purple:

I also crimped my hair, which made me feel very very 90's, but added a really nice texturey contrast to the flowers.
