D+D Jacket- Mock-up #1

Nov 24, 2010 01:36

As promised the first jacket mock-up:

*Edit* To get the pattern, I mashed together directions from my apparel arts textbook, and Period Costumes for Stage and Screen.

These are some pictures I took before I started to mark and pin the changes I wanted to make.
Firstly, I am pretty sure I sewed the sleeves on backwards. I know they are puffs, but they are shaped puffs and are pulling funny... I gathered the caps for the mock-up, but in the final they will be cartridge pleated, I think I need to make them more full?

I also took in the back, and re-shaped the curve of the dropped shoulder. I am going to bring the funnel closer into the neck at the side, and drop the neck in the front a tad. The back neck looks a little weird to me also, but right now I can't tell if the side neck alteration will fix it, if it needs a shaped dart, or if it is simply because it is wimpy muslin. The interfaced wool will be stiffer... Second mock-up time, I think it will be a strong piece to show my teacher once break ends, and jump into the final version.

Tomorrow I hope to sit down and finish the dress, as well as a knock-off Free people Sweatshirt I am making for my computer pattern drafting class- pictures soon.

mock-ups, period costumes for stage and screen, pattern drafting, discarded to divine
