Birthday Shoes

I was gifted these lovely shoes by my mother for my last birthday. They are the unofficial reproduction of Violets boots from Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. If I remember correctly they are the "bordello" Style by Pleaser?

The Shoes are pretty comfortable, but made for someone with extremely large calves! I had to move some of the buttons (Functioning button holes!) I also HATED the dumb little bow stuck on the front of the shoe

I got the Idea to replace the bows with beading after seeing a really beautiful pair of Victorian patent button boots (in Aubergine) that had gunmetal beading along the nose. The hardest part of the whole process was actually finding a symmetrical period-looking beaded applique I liked. All of the asymmetrical ones I found, didn't have mirrored partners.

Fabri-Tac and NYC Garment district to the rescue! Epic trim stores willed with sparkly lovelies...dangerous for my inner magpie.
