Berge Hat

This is a Berge Style Hat I started when I took a class with Lynn Taylor through http://www.gbacg.org/ (Greater Bay Area Costumer's Guild)
It's inspired by this hat from The Duchess, only my finished result won't be quite so epic...http://www.costumersguide.com/georgiana/white28.jpg

And In-progress: http://izodiea.livejournal.com/10041.html#cutid1
(Note: some of the text is re-posted)

Note: The viable white spot on the center underside of the hat, has been since covered with a black ribbon rosette.

TRIM!!! I still want to apply some more trim/decoration to the hat, but I havn't found anything I like yet. (This style of trim it has now, I copied from a surviving straw hat) The cross and edging are velvet 1/4 inch ribbon, and the ties are silk satin ribbon, both from Piedmont fabric. The rosettes and puffs I made from grosgain.

berge, 18th century, ribbon, millinery
