School Work

Here are some projects that I completed during my Fall semester. Usually I have strictly fashion classes, but this time I had quite a few textiles classes. Here are some photos of fabric I made (and garments from fabric I made) :

This dress is made from a pattern of my own. The orange fabric is 100% Rayon Challis I dyed using proceion dye. I then did two layers of block printing using Jaccuard textile pigment (Which is heat set with an iron). The black fabric is some mystery knit I picked up for 1$ a yard.

This is a cotton knit t-shirt dress I made using various shibori techniques and indigo dye. The theme of the shirt was "outerspace" so I made all of the major constellations, some planets and a galaxy by tying beads into the fabric along with some running stitches. I dipped the fabric a total of four times, taking out some stitches each time so I would get a gradient.

And here is a picture of the fabric all tied up, before any dye:

This was a spreen printing project. The fabric is 100% Rayon Challis dyed blue with proceion dye. On top of that is two layers of screen using the same dye in paste form (actually, this entire piece was made using navy in different %'s) The project parameterss was to make a spaced print using a "geometric unit" So I decided to use buttons (Circles) with a few keys thrown in just because I like them. I want to use the fabric to make this dress:http://www.voguepatterns.com/item/V2960.htm?tab=vintage_vogue&page=1
With the addition of a Giant under-petticoat.
