Ugh, I hate things like that. The neighbors right next to me had not their bedroom on the opposite side of my bedroom wall, but their kitchen. Being early risers and fans of large breakfasts, every morning at about 6, like clockwork, BANG! came the sound of slamming cupboards, through the wall inches from my sleeping head. Thank goodness they moved out and my new neighbors apparently like to sleep in. :-)

Car alarms are no fun, either.

I can so relate. It's not just apartments. I live in a house, and the houses in my neighborhood are so close, I describe them as having your neighbors in your back pocket. It's not so bad in the wintertime, when everyone's windows are closed and everyone stays inside, but in the summer (or early in the school year), and I'm trying to take a nap (because my sleep patterns get screwed up), to have kids running up and down the sidewalks yelling, or hearing the thunk-thunk-thunk of skateboards over the concrete, or neighbors slamming car doors and starting vehicles that haven't had a decent muffler since the turn of the century . . . I'm lucky to make up an hour of lost sleep somewhere along the line.

Annoying? Oh, yeah.
