Sometimes I wish I could paint

Tonight when I got to work, there was a spectacular view out my window. We're on the ground floor, with tall buildings around, but out this corner window we can see up the street we're on. There were piles of solid, scalloped clouds at the horizon; they had dumped rain earlier, and now were drifting into the hills with whatever load they still carried. In a line down the street, next to the pale concrete of the mall, marched tall palm trees, their fans brushed with gold from the setting sun.

It was perfectly Los Angeles, but also much more dramatic than we're used to. I've stored it away in my mind.

It's moments like this when I most wish I could paint.

los angeles, art, real life
