(I just remembered that I never finished this!)
24 - Betaing - How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
Often I'll just use one beta--that way, I get focused notes, but my other friends in the fandom get to wait and read the story once it's finished. I've had the pleasure of two betas several times, and found it very useful. Different perspectives give different notes, and where they overlap I pay close attention.
I've never had a beta horror story, lucky me. :)
I think probably my dream beta was the first one
mistraltoes gave me, on one of my Numb3rs fics. She was one of the best betas I ever had, including one who worked as a professional editor; she would look at things like word usage, grammar, and spelling, but also inferences from dialogue, unclear moments, and characterization. I learned a lot from her work. Also, that was the first time I realized how important it is to give notes on what *does* work, not only what doesn't.
I've had other great betas, particularly
feliciakw. Thanks to all of you! *hugs*
25 - Music - Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
26 - What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?
27 - Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?
28 - Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?
29 - What is your current project or projects?
30 - Do you have a favorite fic you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!
