(I hope you don't mind I snuck in here - just saw you on travels_in_time's journal.)
Just wanted to say thanks for this, especially the "artsy" stuff. I was in an art store today and thinking along the lines of all you've said here, my eyes filled with tears the whole time.
Do you know the title of the workbook you went through? I remember 'The Artist's Way', but it would be great to have something with a specifically Christian focus.
I am saving the quote at the end so I'll never forget it. I grew up in one of those well-meaning but misguided families that did not value creativity and saw it as fun, but that's all. Certainly nothing to pursue as a career. I have all the hangups, with the echoes of, "Get your head out of the clouds and get a REAL JOB" running in my mind every time the artsy side of me wants to pop up. I've crushed it so completely I doubt if I can ever revive it at this point. Being in that art store reminded me of all I've lost in that way.
I hope the job thing works out and I wish you much success, in all areas professionally and personally!
You're very welcome! I'm always very happy when I can encourage fellow artists in their gifts.
And you might get a lot out of this particular study--it's really designed for people like you, with all those hang-ups, all the ways you've had that side of you crushed by well-meaning family or church.
