LOL, yes, I wasn't really in vision!Dean mode, but... Heh. Someone's got our phones wiretapped. *facepalm*
The only bit I thought was really fan-pandering was the "service Oberon" line. (And it probably should have been Titania, because the young boys were usually abducted for *her* court, iirc, and were often the reason for jealous feuds between her and her husband. /lore nerdity)
Sam was all "So you're saying suffering is good?" and I replied "Actually...yeah." Though yeah, as you point out, suffering isn't the only thing he's missing out on. Am so missing Sam's soul.
See, I don't buy that suffering, in and of itself, is *ever* a good thing. Good can come out of it, most definitely, and in a world as messed-up as ours it often indicates...er... soul-having. Hence my reaction: Dean's right, it kind of is the only game in town, but dammit, Dean, you're not selling this well, and you forgot the other part of the awesomeness of having a soul.
I miss Sam. :( I want to read old Sam-fic and remind myself of him.

Good ep. Interesting case, new and different MotW, delightful guest stars. Some parts felt awkwardly like fan pandering, but maybe that's just me.
Also, the mention of goblins and the snatching of elder siblings first borns reminded me of something . . . hm . . . . :-)
