Why would anyone flame you? People are that sensitive?

Well, I hope not, but judging from other people's posts I've read, some are. *shrug*

I was going to say, is there something in the water? Not that I mind or disagree with either of you!

Just for the record, I want you to tell me if my characters sound OOC to you. Or you know, lash me with a wet noodle. Your call.

I love feedback on stories, old and new, it's like crack (I like your name of fannish cookies). But yeah, it's a nice gesture, not a requirement.

I meant more the kind of fic where I stop reading partway through because I realize that I've stumbled into fic that, for example, doesn't seem to care much about canon characterizations (blatant St. Daniel stuff, for example). I do try to give concrit when I have it, although it's kind of hard; unless I'm a dedicated beta I sometimes feel bad about it, even though many authors welcome it.

Feedback is cookies, yes. I love them, and I never get too many. *g*

Uh... I take it there's a fight on this currently?

Not really. I just stumbled over something that was the last straw on this camel's back about this particular topic, that's all. *g*

It's just somebody else on my list posted on the same topic shortly afterward, and I got the sense of having nibbled the fringe of a conversation.

Me, right? Yeah, we saw the same post and both reacted to it. It wasn't even that big of a deal. Just something that's been brewing for a long time for me, and when I saw izh's response I was like, Hey, might as well write my own.

Well said! If your self-worth as a writer depends entirely on the volume of positive feedback you receive, then you really need to get a new hobby. Writing has to be driven by self-gratification. An appreciate audience is just icing on the cake.
