A couple more questions re: creating my very own fic sticky-post

1) Per general consensus (and common sense), I am separating my fic by fandom. This creates a dilemma: what should I do with crossovers? Not that I've written many, but there are a few. Should I place them in the fandom that they most strongly belong in? Or place them in both fandoms--a double listing?2) There are about 12 or 14 fics/ficlets

I have so few crossovers myself that I don’t bother to label them separately. However, if you have a substantial body of work, I would suggest this approach:

Assuming a Numbers/Medium crossover (I use this as an example because I read one such, and in fact I think you were the author), I would list it three times. First under Medium stories, with a parenthetical “[crossover with Numbers]”; then the converse, listing it under Numbers stories, with a parenthetical “[crossover with Medium]”; and, finally, in a separate Crossovers section, with the parenthetical “[Numbers/Medium crossover]”.

That’s just me.

I didn't write that Numbers/Medium crossover, but I certainly recced it a few times. :) (I believe the author is Red Soprano.)

I have a very small number of crossovers: 4, actually, of which only 2 are proper fics with a beginning, middle, and end. *g* So I may just do as you've done, and not make a big deal out of; either that, or go ahead and list it twice, under both fandoms.

In my own index, I list crossovers under each fandom they involve.

That does seem like the most efficient way to handle it.

It seems best from the point of view of someone looking through the index for stuff involving their fandoms, at least, even if it does mean a bit more work when you're setting the index up.

1) I would say both.

2) If you don't mind posting so many, I'm sure we don't mind being spammed by so many. If you don't want to do all that posting on lj, I would list the archives where thy are. Searching isn't too much of a pain.

3) No idea. That would be the way I would think to do it.

I'd say, whatever's easiest for you, as long as everything is labeled clearly. X-overs, if they're representative of both fandoms, yeah, I'm thinking list under both fandoms.

But if you don't want want to post loads of your old fic, you might just have a link in the sticky to your various other indexes (or indices *g*).

Crossovers...
a) place them in both
b) have a separate "crossovers" section
c) list them as their own fandom; for example, you would have pure Sentinel stories under "Sentinel", and then the next section would be "Sentinel/Numb3rs", even if it only had one story in it. This story would most strongly belong in Sentinel fandom. If you had another story which crossed both fandoms, but belonged most strongly in Numb3rs, you would give it another section "Numb3rs/Sentinel", which would be after the "Numb3rs" section. This is what I do, myself. I also have separate sections for stories in a series of stories - this is important when I have a crossover series where the stories end up in different "fandom" sections due to this policy.

Stories not on LJ:
List them in the sticky post, but link to where they are offsite.

Wordcount:
It depends what format your story is in. Linux/Unix has a word-count command ("wc") which works on plain text files.

Oooo, yes, I've seen you do this. Perhaps that's what I shall do; there's only a few crossover to list, so it may work well.

I'm also leaning towards your response to question 2--it'll just be a lot easier to link to the story offsite than bother dragging it into LJ. For now, anyway.
