Interests & Icons Meme

wychwood requested that I explain 3 interests and 3 icons:

interests:

forensic art--I became interested in this when I created a character for an original TV pilot (no, the script isn't finished--it's barely begun), and wanted to give her an occupation close to law enforcement but something that hasn't been overused. Forensic artists do such varied things as sketch and recreate crime scenes, create sketches of suspects by talking to witnesses, and create approximate faces for unidentified/decomposed bodies (that's actually half science and half art, and quite a fascinating process).

licc--actually, L.I.C.C., or League of Intergalactic Cosmic Champions. :-) This was a pretty silly action/adventure superhero RPG I participated in a few years ago. You can see an image of my main character (Artsy-Fartsy) in my default icon.

northern exposure--a surreal hour-long comedic drama, starring Rob Morrow as a young, nerotic Jewish doctor from New York sentenced to pay off his student loan by practicing medicine in the tiny Alaskan town of Cecily. The show aired in the U.S. (I think) in the early '90s. It's one of the funniest, cleverest, and most heartfelt shows I've ever watched. And I'm only through the 2nd season so far.

icons:

I requested this from a friend who makes icons. I thought it was terribly clever at the time; the inversion of the proverb about family to refer to Jim and Blair (from The Sentinel), who are best friends, especially when combined with images from the episode where Blair "drowns." I still like it, though.

This is a quote from C.S. Lewis' book Till We Have Faces. I've used pregnancy and childbirth as a metaphor for the creative process for a long time, so when I found this icon, I just had to snag it.

Another quotation (um, Voltaire, I think, this time), brought to my attention by jd3000 after I declared by pro-genfic/anti-slash position and found myself in the middle of a squabble in a community.
