not only are they not doing them right but people have seen too many to really be frightened by any of the newer ones... plus, companys are putting regulations on how frightening and realistic they can be... also, people are tired of seeing the new thing over and over, so movie makers decide to be DIFFERENT and NEW, but... by re-making an older horror movie, and then putting todays scensors on it... it kind of looses meaning no matter what you do, everything just sucks because parents don't want their children exposed, and people still want to make lots of money...
The only good ones in the past 20 years have eaither not been horror films, or they were the two exceptions, 'John Carpenter's 'The Thing'" and "Dawn of the Dead" (which was, by the way, written by George Romero, whom originally wrote and directed Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Land of the Dead,).
