While vacuuming today, I decided to write a book. It's called The Bare Necessities: Tips for the Cleaning-Challenged. Here's my chapter outline:
Chapter 1-- Decluttering: Why Big Baskets Are a Must
Chapter 2-- Vacuuming: Effective Maneuvering Techniques (first line: Did you know your vacuum can double as a push broom?)
Chapter 3-- Dusting: If You Can't See It, No One Else Can Either
Chapter 4-- Scrubbing: Utilizing the Child or Pet "Oops" to Your Advantage
Chapter 5-- Prioritizing: What to Clean in Case of Unexpected Guests
Chapter 6-- Prioritizing: What to Clean Before a Visit from Your Mother
Chapter 7-- Prioritizing: What to Clean Before a Visit from Your Mother-in-law
(First lines: The key to a successful visit with your mother-in-law is all about time-management. First, accept that it will never, ever be clean enough. Second, use your time wisely: I would suggest a good day-before massage to relax you. This is a much better use of your time than killing yourself hand-scrubbing the floors and walls, but inevitably missing that one dirty thing she touches or steps on two seconds after she enters the house)
Chapter 8-- Hosting: The Art of Stashing
Chapter 9-- "I'm reorganizing my space"; "The kids are still working through completing chore correctly" and Other Helpful Excuses
Chapter 10-- Multitasking: Household Chores That Can Be Done in Front of the TV
