Everything Canon you could know about Toudou Kimi.

Intro:
Toudou Kimi is a minor character of Fruits Basket. Therefore, what little canon information there is about her mostly comes from in-depth character info 'asides'.

The following post is meant to catalog everything canon that is known about Toudou Kimi. There is no conjecture, reasoning, or fanon details... those will all be in another post. XD

Let's begin!

Family details:

- Kimi is an only child in a three person family, with her mother and her father.

- Her father comes from a very elite, prosperous background. (Though no detail is given on exactly how so.)

School life:

- Kimi is apparently dating about half of the guys in school, in various stages of relationships.

- Kimi, however, is hated by most of the girls at school. She has a solid reputation as an "enchantress" who charms guys into doing what she wants with her looks.

- This extends even to teachers, and it's once mentioned that Kimi manages to get a new whiteboard for the student council room by begging one of the male teachers for it.

- Kimi doesn't worry about picking fights with girls because she only cares if boys like her.

- Kimi also secretly believes that, deep down, the girls she fights with do like her and that they exist to do favors for her.

- However, she can also get along with girls if they have the right personality. The type of girl Kimi gets along with the best: a shy quiet girl who doesn't say much.

- Kimi also believes that if she likes a guy, it doesn't matter how many she dates at a time.

Physical Strength:

- Kimi takes down Kakeru with a hard punch to the solar plexus at least twice.

Personality quirks, traits:

- Kimi has a habit of outright ignoring things she doesn't want to hear, including people lecturing her or telling her "no".

- Kimi's normal mood is 'happy,' with a big alluring smile.

- However, Kimi does become embarrassed on one or two occasions, or at least acts like she is. (All when facing the prospect of a boy liking her.)

- Kimi does not like having secrets kept from her by her friends, but also prefers to make up her own version of what she thinks it is. ("Oh no! Kakeru and Yun Yun... were having a dirty conversation?!")

- Though Kimi can do/say mean things and act oblivious about people's feelings, she also can pick up on someone's feelings very easily. (Usually when they don't involve her.)

Taste in men:

- YES, this deserves its own section. XD

- The type of guy Kimi DOESN'T like is someone who's wishy-washy, cruel, and/or prone to angry outbursts.

- Bald people or potentially bald people are also a turnoff.

- Kimi's best type of guy is pretty, rich, and strong/powerful.

- Direct quote: "Kimi feels she can't trust a guy who says they enjoy porn videos when they have a girlfriend! Kimi thinks it's being unfaithful in spirit."

- Kimi has no qualms on hitting on someone who already has a girlfriend or even dating them, saying: "That's not Kimi's fault, it's the responsibility of the people themselves!"

- ...but if the person makes it clear they won't be interested because of the established relationship, she'll stop completely.

- If Kimi's in a group of friends and wants to be alone with one guy, she has no qualms with outright suggesting they ditch the others. (Albeit, she's only shown suggesting this with Sohma Yuki, who may have been special.)

Misc:

- Kimi is used, at least twice, to interrupt Machi and Yuki's private talks.

- Kimi has only met two members of the Sohma family in canon, Yuki and Ayame.

- Kimi makes an appearance in fifteen chapters of Fruits Basket. (Sixteen if you include one page of the neko fan book.)

- Kimi's last appearance is in chapter 128. (For one page. XD)

- Kimi is one of the few characters (even among the minor characters) who does NOT get paired off at the end with anyone.

- ...in fact, there's no real epilogue for Kimi at all, sadly. :(

- But Kimi does have a relatively large role in the second Fruits Basket drama CD. (The details of which will be in another post.)

- Kimi is voiced in the Drama CD by Tamura Yukari. Who also voiced Furude Rika in Higurashi no Naku koro ni, among others.

Past:

- Kimi gets one flashback in chapter 112.

- The reason for Kimi's behavior is revealed.

- Boys always liked Kimi, and when she was about to enter junior high school, some girls cornered her about the attention she received.

- Direct quote: "Why don't you go play with the boys? It's more fun right? Being cute is so nice, even if you have other faults, the boys will overlook them. You can live your entire life just off of good looks, can't you?"

- Kimi's reply: "YOU ALL THINK SO TOO?! KIMI THOUGHT SHE WAS THE ONLY ONE!! :D"

- As a result: "Kimi lost some weight, improved her studying habits and grades, and got to know many many boyfriends~ ♥"

Conclusion:

- The Fruits Basket author specifically states Kimi was designed to be a happy girl who was completely unrelated to the "Pain of the Sohma Family". (Uotani and Hanajima both got wrapped into that pain in their own way.)

- Thanks for reading so far. Hopefully I can maintain Kimi's endless confidence, happiness, and playfulness (to put it nicely XD).
