I think I got about 16 hours of sleep. I came home yesterday and passed out. I barely made it through the door, and I collapsed on the ground. My mom called me over after a few minutes, so I dragged my ass over to the living room. Talked a little, then slept for an hour on the couch. My mom tried to get me out to go eat, but I felt too tired so I went upstairs and called Patrick. Talked for a little then fell asleep. Slept until 9 this morning and woke up sore. I hobbled out of the room, took a look at the stairs, thought 'Fuck that shit' then went back to sleep. I was lying around until 12, went downstairs to watch Never Been Kissed because I was in the mood. Mrs. Wright called me up at around 3:30 and I had to go pick up fundraiser candy at Faye Ross Middle School. Went to practice at 5 and distributed candy. We did dance the whole time, which meant I sat on the side and clapped for tempo because I was too gimpy to move around. My left leg is completely useless.
I was thinking about AX. Not excited in the slightest. If it weren't for the fact that I already paid for registration and the hotel, I probably wouldn't even go. I don't feel up to cosplaying, either. As much as I like the attention, I don't feel like standing around for half an hour with a circle of people w/ cameras take my picture. I guess I'll just wander around the exhibit hall in the morning and dance w/ hot chicks at night. Knowing the usual crowd, it's going to be geeky fanboys who think Fake-Martial-Arts is dancing. Great. I'll dance w/ you guys. That's usually pretty scandalous. <3
Exhaustion aside, the weekend was a blast. I drove to Pasadena to pick up Sharon from art class Saturday morning, then went to the Ramada Inn in West Hollywood to meet up with everybody. When everybody showed up, we went to the Pride festival to outreach. I teamed up with Sharon and Chris, a med student who is also w/ APIHR, to pass out flyers and get people to sign up for the mailing list. We filled up a whole page, which destroyed everybody else's record. w00t. Played some of the carnival games, and I won a giant orange flower. Afterwards, we went to the Dyke March to outreach some more as well as march with them. Sharon unknowingly outreached to Jenny Shimizu, model and Angelina Jolie's ex-girlfriend. Everybody had a fit. :G I carried the APIHR sign during the march, and we walked by this one car of Asians were stopped at a red light. I grabbed flyers, walked over to the car, and dropped them in. The guy in the front seat took them, but the girls in the back were trying to hide their faces. Whatever. Afterwards, we went back to the hotel. A group of people went back to the festival to look around, and Sumi and I stayed behind to watch gay porn in the room. Some booth at the festival was handing out free DVDs, so I grabbed a bag. One was boring, the other was hairy. I gave them to Drew. :G
The next morning, we woke up early to go set up the float. I was having a rather hard time moving around in my skirt. :/ We were lined up next to the Altoids float, which had a bunch of topless men in red bootyshorts with "Altoids" printed on the butt, and in front of Lucy Lawless. Sharon flipped out and ran to get her autograph. The parade itself was fun. I've never had so many people whistle at me at the same time. Some Mexican guy tried to wave me over and made a kissy face at me. :F I danced in front of every video/TV camera I saw. Patrick told me that Amy Hill was asking wtf I was doing, because I was running around all over the damn place. :G There weren't as many protesters as I imaged. There was a small mob (and when I say mob, I mean five people with signs and one with a megaphone) somewhere in the middle. They called us fairies, which was so stupid because
1.) We had wings and wands. Duh.
2.) Marching at gay pride. Duh x2.
3.) We were pixies. Duh x3.
I almost fell asleep on the ride home. That was pretty bad. I had fun, though. I have pictures to upload, but I left the cable at the old computer desk and I don't feel like hobbling all the way over there. You'll have to see them tomorrow.
Speaking of which, I got transferred to intern at 'Ohana House instead of with State Assemblymember Judy Chu. Which is a good thing, because this would have been me at her office --> =o= I'm going to work Tuesdays to Fridays, 1-8 P.M., starting tomorrow. I'm excited. :G
