The princess snuggled closer to the beast that she was riding.
The weather around her was cold and stormy. They were enveloped in a world of steel gray clouds, its monochrome broken only by sporadic streaks of sapphire lightning. Every now and then her face would be battered by gusts of chilly wind.
Before long, bits of snow were sticking to her eyelashes; her hands were growing numb.
Even the dog’s thick fur was wet and offered her little comfort.
“Any moment my hand will slip and I’ll fall to my death, hmm,” she observed to herself.
The eternally moonlit garden of Takemaru was now a thing of dreams, only a distant memory. This was the freedom her heart had secretly longed and wished for.
She did not know where they were heading or what awaited her once they reached there. She did not know if she was riding to safety or would be betrayed a second time.
In fact, her coming away with the General so easily was proof enough that she was a fool, a complete idiot.
The princess smiled as she looked at the triangular ears of the dog, now on high alert and confident.
The man who had stormed into the Gekkouju Garden and freed her from Takemaru’s spell…
For him, she would gladly remain a fool.
