Funny Business American Politics

When looking at the presidential election politics I am reminded of American Idol last season, when an underdog and a pathetic performer was being voted in by the public time and again. A person with no apparent singing skill came in the last ten and may have possibly gone on to win the season if the organizers had not played a little politics of their own.

A relative new comer Barrack Obama is "stealing" the nation's hearts by trumping himself as the agent of change. I am totally surprised how can a new comer who has not had much experience dealing with the travails of Washington prove himself to be the agent of change? Following the rhetoric on the campaign trail, it only seems that Barrack talks louder than anyone else. John [Edwards] is trying to come in a close second by not only screaming at the top of his lungs but also occasionally thumping his chest. Even Hillary [Clinton] joined the bandwagon by "trying" to shed some tears in a coffee shop meeting. Bill [Richardson]; if you are reading this, then you should also probably "try" to shed some tears and scream on the top of your lungs. Only that seems to be heard by the American public.

As I said, the American idol cacophony in which I thought 'Sanjay Malakar' sang at the top of his lungs with no sign of rhythm or music won the hearts of American people, so maybe louder you are the better chances of becoming the next President.

If the Democratic side is being funny, one should try to look at the Republican side. I was surprised to see John [McCain] following the same rhetoric and slogan "CHANGE". But he at least does not thump his chest but does keep pushing an imaginary button at his hips. Rudy [Guiliani] seems to have kept out of the race completely. Rudy seems to be touting a "new" strategy for winning the nomination, but the only strategy that seems to work is "screaming". Mitt [Romney]’s strategy of airing negative ads under the garb of just focusing on the issue differences seems to have fallen flat on the face. Maybe he could have used the money to do something to his hair to look more presidential. Ron [Paul] seems to be the only guy who seems to be gaining ground wherever he goes. His message of zero Government seems to resonate with younger voters. But how does a country function with no Government; is he building up for anarchy? Thankfully I do not have to bother about it because he is no where closer to getting the Republican nomination. Among all Republicans: ‘Oh Fred [Thompson]! Where Art thou?’

This post marks my foray into the world of American presidential election blogging.
