In No Particular Order

The last day of the decade, Yam and I were shuffling papers in one of the training rooms after having ended for the day when she turned to me and said, "2010 is ending."

"Uh hm," I said absentmindedly and with no particular tone of surprise. At the present moment, what actually really mattered was me getting the hell out of the office to start celebrating.

"2010 is ending," she said again, and this time, she slapped the pile of papers she had in her hand upright. "What have you accomplished?"

That time, I looked up.

Good question.

2010, what did we accomplish?

1. I worked a sideline job to try it out, and also help Jerome. It was nothing special, but it really made me understand the value of working and earning my own keep. Since it was online, it was quite fun to try out because I felt like a part of a huge movement; like you had caught the biggest wave and actually managed to stay on your surfboard.

2. I learned to balance (well, better than I did last year anyway) life and work. I went to Anawangin with people I trust and love and it was an absolutely gorgeous weekend, being embraced by gentle seas and cradled by soft sand. It was pure bliss.

3. I went to a concert of a band whose songs I've been singing since childhood: Tears for Fears!

4. I bought a camera with my own money! And it was a camera I researched on for months and months too. I'm glad I bought it. It's one of my best life purchases.

5. I watched two Filipino movies in the theater with my boyfriend. Watching a Filipino movie is a feat in itself, but add to it the fact that I watched it in public with my non-Tagalog speaking significant other? Epic.

6. Watched and read Twilight. :| Ugh. But I guess I can finally now say that I do dislike it and think it's utter rubbish.

7. Not to toot my own horn or anything but I got promoted, too. :) This is probably my biggest achievement this year. If you must know, majority of my life I never felt like I ever did anything of any worth, or something to be proud of, all by myself. When I became a TCON due to my own discipline and determination (it must be said, it wasn't easy getting there), and passing interviews and mock presentations, it felt so damn good. Finally. Finally I had something I really knew I did all by myself.

That's my year of growth in a nutshell. All in all a pretty damn good year.

2011 will be even better. :)
