Today I held a BBQ at my house upon the insistence of the few friends who have been to my house to see how large my backyard is. I usually plan get togethers, but I've never HOSTED. Big difference. I manage time, place, meeting time, day itinerary. Never had a held a get together in my very own house, solely providing everything. Well, not everything. I agreed to hold one if people brought their own food cause there was no way I'd have the time and money to prepare food let alone the time, people, etc. I even managed a rendzevous point and even pinpointed who would be in whose car which I was pretty proud of myself.
It was slow at first, as all things usually are but then it started picking up once we had all ingredients and the grill going. Then everyone played badminton, volleyball, and frisbee and also eventually football, much to my chagrin that they continually ran into my neighbors yard.
We had home made crab rangoons a la Jammy, hot dogs, burgers, chicken wings, corn, cherries, watermelon, chips, Cheesecake Factory cheesecake.
It was also Christian's one month ceremony so I made two red eggs for the parents, and plain white bao with red dots on it for everyone else. Good luck!
I was a little sad we remembered to take a group picture after about 6 people left, but there was still quite a big group to make a picture. Also a little bummed I miss out on the girl talk, and the priceless sports moments cause I had to constantly run around. I actually barely ate anything at all, but I wasn't very hungry.
And I had my first sip of alcohol in many a year. I was severely peer pressured at first, but I resisted and ran away. Then Jasmine just let Kit and me try some and it wasn't too bad. Tasted like lollipops. I had green apple Smirnoff, which I hear is a girly drink. I wasn't ready to drink Corona or Skyy Vodka quite yet. And though I wasn't driving, I didn't want to be smashed as the hostess.
I had a lot of fun, and I hope everyone had fun too. If anyone was bored at all I feel like I failed as a party planner. Next time I know to turn the TV off and bring more tables outside and also to play ultimate frisbee and hold a Spoons tournament to get the entire group together because people got cliquey in the end and some were left out.
All in all, good job to me. I guess.
