For the past couple weeks, I have been struggling with sin more often than I ever have. I feel so vulnerable and overpowered by sin. I have been asking God over and over again that I really need help and that I need to be delivered from this weakness. Everyday, before I read the word, I pray that God gives me an open heart while I'm reading and reveals any message that he has for me. Well I was reading Romans 6 and these scriptures really popped out at me.

Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ, we were set free from the power of sin. - Romans 6:6-7

Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to its lustful desires. Do not let any part of your body become a tool of wickedness, to be used for sinning. Instead, give yourselves completely to God since you have been given new life. And use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you are no longer subject to the law, which enslaves you to sin. Instead, you are free by God's grace. - Romans 6:12-14

This completely answers my prayers!! God was so faithful. We give in to sin so much because we sometimes think that since we are humans, it's only natural to sin. We are always forgiven anyway, so what more could it hurt? Wrong!!! I'v been giving in to my flesh more than I am standing up against it with my spirit and the help of God. It just seems so much easier at times. Although our spirit is willing, our flesh is weak. Satan has been attacking me because he knows that I'm down. The second that you let your guard down, he attacks. If you think things like "Oh I'm too tired. I'll read my bible tomorrow instead", Satan will use that to his advantage. He'll slowly but surely start to take that passion away that you have for God. But God is so much stronger than Satan will ever be. We know right from wrong. Choosing to sin is like choosing sin as your master. Whatever you choose to obey does become your master (Romans 6:16). Instead choose to be slaves to faithfulness, righteousness, truth, God. Always remember that God's grace has set us free from evilness. We have knowledge of this and whatever we have knowledge of we will be accountable for. Here are six ways that you can conquer sin and show that God is working in your life:

1. Admit the power of sin in your life
2. Realize that you are powerless to change on your own
3. Become "fed up' with your condition and cry for help
4. Accept your freedom
5. Accept God's forgiveness and lack of condemnation
6. Cut the instinctive actions of your sinful nature
(From the New Believer's Bible, New Living Translation)

Stay strong and keep your guard up. In Christ's name, Amen.
