The rain started about midday and it's been going fairly strong ever since. I didn't get anywhere near the front doors but our store has many skylights and the sound on the roof can be rather deafening.
About 1/3 of the way down to the south 40 where the employee parking lot is, I just gave up on the umbrella. I figured I might as well be holding a newspaper over my head about the 3rd time it turned inside out. It's not actually raining that hard but the wind is pretty fierce. Driving down I-70 I was suddenly boxed in by 2 semis and I thought I wouldn't make it out alive. The wind tunnel they created had me thinking I was going to start banking off of them like a pinball.
Now, safe and dry once more in my own apartment, it's rather amusing watching the light-as-a-feather hummingbirds try to zero in on the feeder in the wind gusts. And those aren't really all that bad on the balcony because of the way the buildings are arranged.
What was also amusing is the the National Hurricane Center apparently posted a map (I believe it has since been replaced), showing the possible path of Isaac's effect: Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, and it might even hook into that state immediately to the left of Missouri? Nebraska, right? NO! Kansas! I know that the center of the US is more or less a fly-by to the majority of the rest of the country, but you'd think the NHC would at least have employees intelligent enough to consult an accurate map. *sheesh!*
I guess tomorrow is supposed to be pretty much a copy of today - coolish and rainy, and then it's supposed to climb back into the 90s (98 on Mon) with probably still high humidity, so we're all going to steam like broccoli. Good thing I wasn't planning on going anywhere or doing anything. I work on Labor Day but I have next Fri off for a 3 day weekend.
So tomorrow will be a good day to put together that list of Teen Wolf recs I promised a couple of people. And maybe contemplate werewolf stripper-boys. Aaa-oooooo!
