OMG! What's that?
The sun! The SUN! It's been about a week and a half since I've stood in a flood of sunlight - and it's heavenly. The sun might actually have peaked out a few times about a week ago but since it's still full dark when I go to work and there's only maybe half an hour of weak sunset when I get off (which has been absent lately), I've only seen glimpses of the sun through the skylights at work. Even though it's still a bit nippy Phouka is out on the balcony soaking up some rays, too.
I've decided to give the plasma place a pass today. I can't make my second visit for the week for the higher payoff so I'll just give myself the week off. I'll still need to venture forth into the great world outside that isn't Walmart today, though. I've gotta pick up a few things at the grocery store and I have to do laundry. I put it off last day off.
But right now I'm sitting here in a warm flood of amber rays, munching on the blackberry muffins I just pulled out of the oven. Only 3 carbs each with the Carbquick I got a big re-supply of and they're pretty damn tasty. And I can stuff myself with them! I think I'll pick up some more blueberries at the store and maybe some raspberries. I kind of have a yen to try my hand at some lemon-raspberry muffins. Mmmmm!
It's official, all department mgrs are scheduled in at 4 AM on the day after Christmas because the store reopens at 5 am. That is going to majorly suck. But I'll be off by 1 pm. That'll give me time to take a nap and still be up so that I can go to bed at a decent hour Mon night and be up early on Tues - the day with the sibling. Then I'll have Wed to laze about and equalize my body. Then just 2 days of work then 2 more days off! New Year's Eve is my regular day off and most dept mgrs get New Year's Day off. I was one of the lucky ones.
I've pretty much decided to withdraw from the john_w_bigbang. I just want to save myself more stress over the next couple of weeks and the story I planned is long and rather more complicated than ones I've written before, with multiple POVs that I'm going to have to work to keep separate. I'll noodle around with it and try using it for another bigbang later next year.
I still can't say I'm in a holiday mood but the sunshine has perked me up enough that I think I'll actually put my little Christmas tree up and decorate it in a few minutes. I got as far as pulling the boxes out of the closet last Sat but the blah, dreary weather didn't encourage me to take it any further. It'll be nice to give my brother a Christmas tree to look at when he comes over. He hasn't had one in years.
