I have had 'Werewolves of London' on replay in my mind ALL.DAY.LONG! Sure, there are worse songs to have stuck in your head but busting out into Ah-ooooo! Werewolves of London! where others can hear definitely garners you some strange looks and a few snorts.
It was 12 blessed (that's not sarcasm) degrees this morning when I went to work. Not sacrcasm because it's been in single digits (and on a couple of days in negative digits) in the morning. And may I remind you I have no effective heat in my car. Thursday it was so cold and there was enough humidity in the air that it kept instantly freezing on the windshield as soon as I'd scrape it off. It wasn't so bad until I topped the hill a couple of blocks from home and the rising sun poured through the forming crystals and totally blinded me. I literally could not see the road in front of me. I was trying to make it over to the right to pull in to the QT to scrape my windows again but I kept drifting left and then had to vere back across traffic to get off the street. I know the poor guy in back and to the right probably thought I was drunk or a total loon. Luckily by the time I got back on the street the engine had heated up enough that when the car was moving warm air was pushed up the vents and it slowly began defrosting. I had to drive like a hunchback, peering out the bottom of my window for the next couple of miles. Not a fun drive, besides totally freezing my ta-tas off along the way. By the time I got to work I couldn't feel my finger tips or my toes. But this evening at 6 pm when I drove home it was 38 wonderful degrees! And it's just going to keep getting warmer throughout the weekend and next week. What bliss! And what a totally crappy winter for my car to go on the fitz.
Also to the good: my income tax refund got deposited today! Hoo-ah! Just in time, too. This is my last free weekend before Escapade. I have next Saturday off, too (I realized I'd be working 10 straight days before the trip if I didn't take an extra day) but I was leaving that day for the last minute things. So tomorrow - shopping! I need some new clothes. Not a lot, but some. Like I said, I've lost enough weight that most things hand on me like clown clothes, and while I generally like my clothes to be loose, not that loose.
I also need to go by the library and use their speedier wifi to download a bunch of new fic to my eBook reader. The ones on there have been on there since before my computer went tits up and the ones that are left I've either already read and hung on to just in case, because a lot of the other ones left I've tried reading and they just didn't catch my attention or were downright unreadable. So I'm pretty much going to wipe the room allotted to my documents and fill it up again. Even with my older reader and limited room, that's still a hell of a lot of stories. I'm taking my shiny new laptop to CA, of course, but it's not the handiest thing to whip out to read off of. Besides, my klunky little dinosaur of an eReader has been my boon companion for years now. I couldn't make a trip to CA without her.
And BTW, do you have any idea how dicey it can get to be reading porn (quite often incestuous gay porn) in the break room and have someone come up and start asking questions about the reader and want to take a look and see what size the print is, etc? I learned to keep and innocuous book - a free-be romance call 'Homespun Bride' queued up under the 'last' button. *G*
Oh yeah, and if anyone's interested, Wal-Mart has S1 of Justified for $19.96. I saw it on the way out tonight.
Since I have fairly reliable wifi right now (it is a little elusive at times), I'm going to wait until after the first of the month, after I'm back home, to set up my own internet connection. I want to take some time to do some shopping around for the best deal.
Supernatural in less than 1/2 an hour. I know a lot of people are off of it now, but I still enjoy it.
escapade,
income tax refund,
shiny new laptop!,
