I just took some random career quiz online somewhere. The most revealing question was this one:
I it is more important to:
A. Question the status quo
B. Solve problems
Guess which one I chose :)
This actually makes me feel enormously better that anyone (even a dorky only quiz) would consider both of these valid enough to factor into a decision. As opposed to assuming that everyone ought to be primarily interested in solving problems.
Clearly I'm at the wrong job. And even within the industry its clear that I'm badly miscast in development, no matter that I write good code. In QA, at least you're *supposed* to question things (of course software QA has its own problems, but that's another rant).
BTW, the quiz thought that my career area should be "design and the arts".
