25,000 meters

As my insanity deepens....

I ran a 25K race this morning.  Roughly translated, that means just over 15 miles.  It was a trail run at Lake Livingston in the Sam Houston National Forest.  Let me tell you running on a forested trail is extreme and completely different than running on a street, sidewalk, or other pavement.  It was a single track lane with so many roots, stumps, logs, leaves, vines, etc. that I had to constantly watch the trail right in front of my feet so as not to trip, stumble, or fall while somehow making sure I stayed on the correct trail without any wrong turns.  Craziness.  Before I saw the trail I was hoping to finish in 2.5 hours, but instead I finished in 3 hours.  Completely respectable by my standards.  And surprisingly, that earned me a 3rd place medal for my age division.  Not too shabby.  So Monday I will proudly wear my race T-shirt and hardware.

Next race.... Houston Marathon.
