I am a beast!
I did my first triathlon this morning!!!!!! And I finished!!!!! And survived!!!!!!
Great experience. Over 800 competitors. My swim of 500m went excellent. I was 7th of 58 in my group. Felt good. The 12.5 mile bike ride went slower than I had hoped but still came in 12th for my group. My 3 mile run sucked big donkey balls, but I'm OK with it. For one, I currently have some minor lung infection and by the time the run came around I was having a hard time catching my breath. For two, the second I set foot on the running course it started pouring rain like you cannot believe. Most of the course was covered in 2-6 inches of water. One section was at least a foot deep. And I was expected to run through it. Funny. All the while being pelted with incredible amounts of precipitation. It was all good. Finished in 1hour 44minutes. Finished 20th of 58 for my first timers group which I consider very respectable. Especially since I just got my bike 2 weeks ago and started swimming a month ago.
Next one is in The Woodlands. May 5th. Anyone care to join me? I promise it's fun!
