The idea of Disneyland, was a place where both parents and kids could enjoy themselves. For those of you who didn't know. Walt Disney was an known as an avid tobacco chain smoker. With that, Disneyland actually had a tobacco shop located right on main street. The tobacco shop was one of the original stores that opened up with Disneyland. The shop sold many tobacco pipes and accessories. The shop also sold the finest tobacco from around the world. They sold cigarettes but were hidden under the counter and had to be asked for. At the time, you were actually able to smoke freely around the park and the entrance to each attraction had an ash tray in front it.
The tobacco shop permanently closed in 1991. In it's place is now a music and video store. Where you can purchase music from many of the Disney movies and music played throughout the park.
Today Disneyland is a smoke free theme park (This includes e-cigarettes. Had to find this out first hand.) with only a few designated smoking areas.
Though the statue still stands there today. As a reminder of what use to be sold in Disneyland.
