"When Paper Clips Were Still Important"

When paper clips were still important
I used to watch the little red lights on the modem
And tell my mom that

Her story

Was being sent to the newspaper
And borrow her pens
And little yellow notebooks
Pretending to write stories of my own

I used to imagine paper being sent through that wire

My mom taught me how to sew
When I was six

She put me in piano lessons
When I was four

Because I asked

And she
was superwoman.
