[by 'Borders Premium' I assume they mean 'Borders Rewards Plus']

This might be an especially good deal for anyone who signed up for Borders Rewards Plus in the last weeks before liquidation began.

ETA: According to http://www.borders.com/online/store/CustomerServiceView_faqcustomercare , this offer will be extended to anyone who bought Borders Rewards Plus on or after 9/10/2010, and the B&N membership will be good through 12/31/2011.

I think we were added on before 09/10/2010, so we wouldn't be eligible. But I'm not certain of that date.

Even though I'm sure that email was thoroughly vetted by lawyers and, idk, corporate psychological consultants or whatever, and therefore am quite aware that it was designed to be as appealing and as ass-protecting as possible... I find myself strangely moved.

Glad it wasn't just me who responded that way. I almost teared up, and thought WTF is wrong with me.

Wasn't just you two. I didn't tear up, but I felt pretty sad after reading it.

As much as I still believe Borders was the superior bookstore back in its glory days (up until the mid/late 90s -- great selection and service), B&N has long beaten the pants off of us in terms of business sense. We just made a lot of really stupid mistakes.

There's one error in this letter, though -- it should say that the subject matter of DVD purchases will NOT be part of the transferred information, as specified in the court ruling.

It's only a matter of time before B&N goes down the drain too -- with or without its Nook.

Plus members should get an e-mail with a link to follow to sign up for a free BN membership that will expire at the end of 2011.
