Liquidation Blues

Aug 12, 2011 16:38

I am soooo sick and tired of seeing all this garbage rolling in the back door (perfumes, stuffed animals, fleece blankets) as well as these sleazy liquidators running the show. Can't wait till it's all over and done with.

I'm sick of the customers who are SO sad that we're closing.

Yeah, I want to be like, "well, if you liked us SO much, you would have shopped here more, and we'd still be in business." These people who "miss us so much" only shopped maybe once a year. Losers.

Well, I'll miss the Borders that was struggling to stay alive for the past couple of years...weekly 40% off coupons with Borders bucks seemingly randomly popping up. Having to pay near full-price for books will be sad. I'll be buying mostly ebooks from here on out to keep my costs down.

Yeah, seriously, how many fucking times can you fall in the parking lot? We had this fat bitch customer (of course she was a lawyer) who kept falling all over the place. Might have a better sense of balance if you didn't weigh 300+ lbs, no?

"Maybe once a year" is more than most people set foot in a bookstore. It's enough to qualify as a regular, in my opinion.

OP here. I bought about 50 books a year, mostly hardcover but some trade paperbacks (I liked history/bio/other nonfiction, most of which doesn't make it to MM paperback.) Your leadership trained me well to wait for the weekly 40% off coupon--why buy two books this week, one with the coupon and one at full price, when I could pick up the second next week also at 40% off? There are some industries that live on continuous sales--ever bought a mattress that wasn't on sale? The senior Borders leadership made the chain one of those stores, as was frequently mentioned here. I responded as you predicted I would.

you could kill them...creatively. that would solve the problem of them, then when you're rotting in jail you can re-live the wonderful act over and over in your mind!
