This Borders Employee Did NOT Get Paid

Aug 06, 2011 01:21

Don't know if this has happened to any other Borders employees, but I did not get paid last Friday (July 29). My last work date was July 12 and it was suppose to be my final paycheck, but it never showed up at the store or my house. I confirmed the store turned in my hours.  I've contacted Borders HR several times through different avenues, and ( Read more... )

The Kronos system records every punch you make on the clock and connects it to your employee number, so if you were supposed to be paid for a period and weren't sent a check within the first week after store closure, call the payroll department immediately. HR is basically non-existent and they won't help you. If you need the number, go on the web and find the main Borders number or just call another Borders that's still open and ask to talk to the GM. If you get the brush off from the payroll office, you have every right to pursue legal recourse. I'm sure it'll all work out for you, just hang in there :-)

I don't know if this is still the current Payroll number, since I haven't had to call them for a few months but the number I have is 1-800-331-9036.

If the last work date was July 12, the OP's hours would have absolutely nothing to do with the liquidators, as they didn't show up on scene until 10 days later.

Which means that paycheck is probably sitting in the store atm. If you have direct deposit I would assume it would've gone into your account. If not, I'd stop by your store and see if it's there. I was under the impression you get your paycheck sent to you after your store closes, not if you quit (assuming your store didn't close when your last date of employment was).

Feel free to correct me about whether or not your store is still open or not =P

Worth noting: companies that know they're shutting down will sometimes shut off the direct deposit without saying anything. It's legal, but annoying as hell.

Yep, we did screw you. This is going to be quite the lucrative year for me, I both screwed the ex-borders employees out of their payment and I don't have to pay any taxes at all on the millions of dollars I make thanks to the Tea Party. Now I'm off to vacation at a resort with my other CEO friends, and as for you, you're off to work for peanuts at another corporation making yet another CEO rich.

Sincerely,
Liquidation Company CEO

Why so angry? anonymous August 6 2011, 15:25:33 UTC
I don't get the hostility toward the liquidator(s). They aren't the ones who created this mess and their bid was the only one at the end. They're just doing their job.

I know some liquidators are jerks, but many of them are decent people trying to help everyone get through this ghastly process as painlessly as possible.

they are ALL assholes who enjoy stomping on people's spirits, just as corporate did. don't play dumb. They didn't create the mess, they're just smearing it like shit all over our faces, that's all.

The liquidators are not all a**holes. Ours has been great. She has treated us with compassion and respect. In return we are making the best of sad situation. That said, we are enjoying being able to say no and not taking any crap from customers.

you obviously lack insight if you think any of those self-righteous fucks are good decent human beings. they're fucking machines, like combines in a junkyard, and they get off on destroying peoples' lives with impunity. the worst ones are those who pretend they're out to help the little joe schmo employee like you...that cunt wants your soul.
