I can't not be emotional about this health care debate. My family is DIRECTLY affected. Both of my parents are out of work - not because they are lazy, or uneducated, or whatever, just because they are getting fucked by the economy right now

My mother works full time and still cannot afford the health insurance her company offers. And even if she could, they wouldn't take her because she has breast cancer that has spread because she can't afford to TREAT IT. Or my having to pay higher rates simply because I was born with lung problems (not that I can afford insurance now and that's why I've had the same bout of bronchitis for over a month now).
I try to not voice my opinion because there's really no arguing with the "it's all on the individual" type person.
Oh oh, what I LOVE is if someone DOES get on Medicare, they're often looked down upon or embarrassed for "mooching off everyone else". Even though "everyone else" has been brainwashed into thinking what they pay is okay and we have "the greatest healthcare system in the world". We may have the greatest means of healthcare in the world, but a shit-tier system for delivering it.
The fuckwits on FoxNews were going on today about "omg there will be lines at the doctors and hospitals!" among other stupid gripes. OH NO! PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO GO TO THE DOCTOR WHEN NEEDED! HOW TRAJIC THAT YOU WON'T GET IN AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!
God....this whole thing gets my blood boiling so I'll just stop now.
