So, last weekend was really great. I've been meaning to post about it ever since, but of course, I've been lazy. ;p I had been feeling down, so I wanted to make sure I got out and did something fun all weekend...and I did just that!
Friday night was the St. Louis Burlesque Showcase! It was the first Burlesque show I had been to since I quit, so it was really nice to see all my old Burly-Girlies! Not only that, but this showcase (which happens 4 times a year) was completely different from all of the ones in the past. Usually, the showcase consists of the vast majority of St. Louis's Burlesque performers and a few variety acts and basically showcases their abilities. It always sells out and is basically a huge party that people around St. Louis have come to expect every 3 months or so. Well, this time, it was a little different. Instead of having girls come up with their own routines, it became a competition. It was so crazy and unique and just a hilarious time. Only 12 girls competed, and how it worked was: 2 girls would have their names drawn from a hat...they would go on stage and then draw out a random music genre (which could be anything from classic Burlesque, to Country, to Hip Hop) and a random prop. Then, those two girls would have to improv to the song (which they had no idea what it was going to be), and use the prop they drew (which could be anything from a boa, to a racket, to a live person). So the girls would go in pairs, like I said, and after all the pairs performed, 2 would get kicked off at a time, and the whole thing would repeat until they got down to the final girl. The show ended up selling out for the first time ever, the night before it even began! I was so lucky I even got to go, because I was going to order tickets the day of, but they were already sold out...luckily, my old pal, Whiskey Kiss, had a free comp ticket that she gave me! Thank God, because that whole week was so awful leading up to that day, so I really needed to get out of the house and do something fun! I'm so glad I got to go! I haven't laughed that much in a long time! Also, being there started making me consider getting back into Burlesque, but I'm still not entirely sure if I will. I am, however, going to be taking a choreography class with Foxy La Feelion starting this Thursday and I'm pretty damn excited! I'm soooo out of shape though, so I'm a little scared, hehe.
Saturday, my mom took me out shopping. I picked up 3 cute shirts, 2 rings, a necklace, and another mint chocolate candle from B&BW. :) Then, later that night, my mom and I met up with my dad and brother and we went out to Pasta House, which is one of my favorite restaurants. So that was a really fun day! Here are some pictures of my goodies!
I always get shirts I like in multiple colors, haha.
I already had it in gray, too! ;p
I got this cute bow tank top with a pearl bow necklace & 2 rings.
A better picture of the rings. :)
I love the silver heart!
Then, on Sunday, my parents and I went to see the Monty Python musical, Spamalot! I had seen it once before several years ago with my brother and absolutely adored it, so I had to make my parents come with me and see it again! It's seriously my favorite musical I've ever seen, it's just so damn funny! Plus, we are really lucky because we have a really huge/grand/fancy theater. It looks like some sort of Indian palace inside and is just breath taking. It's always a treat going to the Fox Theater. :)
This past week has been pretty good, too! Quinn's birthday was on Friday, but we celebrated Thursday since he had to work on his actual birthday. He's 23 years old now! My baby's growing up! ;D I gave him several shirts, the movie, "Into the Wild," and a new promise ring because the old one I got him was too big and it had this black paint that was wearing off already. So I got him a silver and gold ring this time. :) He also wanted to go to Pasta House, so I took him out for dinner. We had his dad and his roommate, Randy, come along, so it was quite nice. After that, we went back to his house for birthday cake and some Seagram's coolers. The next day we went to Pizza Hut for lunch before he had to go into work. I've been eating lots of unhealthy food lately, haha!
Other than that...I've been doing some apartment hunting with Sally. We still haven't found the right place, but there's one we are HIGHLY interested in that we're checking out tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for us! Oh, and yesterday I went out with my parents to CVS and Border's. My grandparents sent me a gift card for Christmas, so I wanted to buy a few things. I got a really cute tin to keep my pen-pal letters in, a book, a magazine, and some stickers for pen-pal letters. I still have half of my card left! :)
